Tired

I'm tired.

Tired of staring at laundry.

Tired of reading and thinking about reading.

Tired of the neverending knitting project.

Tired of telling kids no.

Tired of wondering when the husband will be home.

Tired of trying to keep the house clean with four kids and a dog undoing the cleaning behind me.

I'm tired of being tired.

So when I saw the reading list for this week's Bible in 90 Days challenge, it immediately made me tired.  I've studied these books before for school and I remember all of the laws and it just seems like too much.

I know I'm whining.  And I know how unattractive it is to whine. 
But it's my pity party and I'll whine if I want to.
And then I'll start my reading.

Two Already?!

It seems like just a moment ago, we were here... just meeting for the first time.  Well, of course, I'd known you for nine months before this moment.  But looking into those eyes, it felt like the entire world stood still for just a moment and it was just you and me.
But, just like with your big brothers and sister,  time moved quickly and soon we were celebrating your first birthday.  You were such a big boy with your cake and your birthday shirt.

I was so proud of you.  And I still am.  First teeth.  First steps.  First words.  There have been so many firsts this past year.  I'm so proud to be your momma.

Happy Birthday CJ Monkeypants.  Mommy loves you more than you will ever know.

Homesick

I miss this face.  Every summer, he goes to Indiana to stay at Grandma Camp for a week or two.  He usually has an amazing time as evidenced from this next picture.

Grandpa is another big kid so there's lots of playing with big toys, shooting guns (at targets, not animals), hunting for treasures and general mayhem.

But yesterday I got an email from my Mom that said:  "He said he knows you are coming down this weekend, Do not be surprised if he wants to come home."  This is the first time that we've encountered this!  I dare say that I'm happy my little boy is homesick!

And I know someone else who will be happy to see his big brother, too.

Momma Needs Her Washer

As a mom of four, I'm highly dependent on my washing machine.

So when it started beeping and flashing and generally freaking out on me last week, I had a bit of a panic attack. 

And when I called the repair people and they told me it would be six more days before they could get over to look at it, I had a minor panic attack.

And when the repair guy told me today that, not only would it be another $190 to fix the machine, it would be another week before the machine was fixed, I officially freaked out.

So, now that the Xanax is kicking in and the wine is chilling in the fridge, I am sitting here wondering - how did our ancestors do it?!?!  They had easily a half dozen kids to manage along with a household of linens.  How did they do it without a machine to do the washing for them??  Forget it - I don't want to know....

So now, I'm on my way out the door to my lovely and generous in-laws to take over their machine for a few hours so that I don't have to make the kids turn their underwear inside out tomorrow (again).

Bible in 90 Days - Day 1

Bible in 90 Days Challenge 

Today's the day - the first day of reading in this challenge.  Reading the Bible from cover to cover is something I've always wanted to do but definitely need some accountability on it.  So when I ran across Amy's challenge on momstoolbox.com, I had to sign up.

To introduce myself to that group, I am Erin.  I'm a SAHM of four kids ages 16 to 1.  I've been studying religion for the past 4 years at a nearby university and also on my own - through our church and various resources I've found online and at the library.  
I decided to take on this challenge because I've felt a lull in my faith recently - a disconnect from God.  That has led to other issues in my life so I am taking control of things and bringing myself back to Him.  I'm hoping that by seeing me reading my Bible every day, I might encourage my husband and kids to do the same.

I'm looking forward to the next 90 days - to pulling more from God's Word in order to strengthen myself and my family.

Summertime Fun

I went to Meijer a few weeks ago and they had Little Tikes pools for $14.99 so I grabbed one for the Monkey.
I had no idea how much fun the big boys would have in it as well.  In fact, that's where all of the kids are right now - in the back yard playing in the baby pools.  I love when they play nicely together.

Bible in 90 Days Challenge

I just signed up for the Bible in 90 Days challenge, hosted by www.momstoolbox.com
I have wanted to do this for some time but couldn't get myself together enough to start - so when I saw that others I follow on Twitter were jumping on board, I decided to jump in with both feet.  I'll be using my own bible (I have several but picked my good ole Zondervan NIV paperback that I picked up for a Bible as Literature class I took at NU a few years ago.
